Re: P.O.I. Fan Fiction Book 3: Legacy

function myFunction() {
A week later, John and I went to go visit my brother about the wedding. He tells me that he can do a small Catholic wedding in the church any time we want. I thank my brother, Father Michael (I think that is his name...) and John and I leave.

We go back to the safe house, our temporary HQ. Nicole pulls me aside along with Shaw. "Sameen, we need to help Jackie here find a wedding dress." She says. "Um, Nicole , I don't NEED a wedding dress."

"Yes you DO. Come on, we are going shopping right now." Nicole says as she pulls Sameen and I along. I put my foot down. "Nicole, I really don't need a dress. It isn't that important to me."

Nicole turns to me. "Jackie, please." I can't resist my best friend so I give in, besides it might be kinda fun, Right?

We go into multiple dress shops although I don't find anything I really like. Nicole is happy that I at least looked. Not that I would have had the money for it or wanted it.

We go back to the safe house.  John and I don't plan our wedding date until months later because numbers were coming in like hunger.

One night, sore and tired from being beat up and then beating up some people who were trying to kill the number, I was sitting on the couch in the living room of the safe house. Nicole is sitting next to me reading a book out loud.

John comes in. "I hate to interrupt but can I talk to Jackie?" He says. Nicole gets up and leaves the room. John sits down next to me. "Jackie, we need to decide our wedding date before it is too late." He says. I knew what he meant by before it is too late. He means before we are, A.  Captured by the Police; B. Killed; or C. Have to be on the run. So I suggest a date to him.

"How about August 20th?" I ask him. He nods and says, "Sounds good!" I text Father Michael the wedding date. I let Nicole and Shaw and Finch know. "Should we let Fusco know?" I ask John.

"I will let him know." John says.  The next day while tracking down a number, we bump into Fusco. John stays to talk to him while I continue to follow the number. John later catches up to me and lets me know that Fusco's coming. "I knew you would want him to come." I tell John. "Lionel is a good guy and has done a lot with us and for us." He replies.

After we save the number, getting some bruises on the way, we go have a coffee and some lunch. "Ugh, what is with some of these people and getting themselves into trouble?" I say out of frustration. John laughs and says, " I am not sure." We have a nice talk with each other and then we go back to the safe house.

I just can't believe that in 3 weeks, I am getting married. Part of me wants to call my parents and beg them to come. If I did that, I would have to explain that I wasn't killed when I got out of the army by New York Mob. The only person in my family who knows I am living is my brother, Father Michael.

On the other hand, I don't want them to know because they will want me to have a big wedding and stuff. I sit down on a chair in the living room of the safe house with a sigh. "What's up, Jackie?" Nicole asks, walking in the room, hearing the sigh. "I am torn. I want to tell my Mom and Dad that I am still alive and getting married but I also don't want to tell them because word will spread and they will want a big wedding." I tell her.

"Well, what does your heart say?" She asks. I gulp and say, "To tell my parents. But if I did that I would put them in danger and UGH! I don't know!" She comes over and pats my back. "I know that would be hard. Maybe you two should wait....or when the danger is gone, you can tell them." She advises me. I sigh. "No, we aren't going to wait. I guess we can just call them after the danger is done and gone." I reply to her advice, "I am going to go make some tea."

I get up and go in the kitchen. John is in there. "Jack, if you want to wait, I can wait....as long as you don't leave me." He says. "No, John, we are getting married in 3 weeks and we can tell my parents when all this is over." I reply, firmly. He smiles and tells me that he loves me. "I love you too." I reply. He gives me a hug and a kiss and then I go to make the tea.

Later that day, Nicole comes in my room, while I am sitting, reading. "So, Jackie, what are you wearing for your wedding?" She asks. "Uhh, I am not sure yet." I reply. "Jackie, really? You must have some idea." She says. I shrug and she walks over to my closet. Opening it she says, "Okay, I am looking at your dresses. Really you only own 3 dresses? Hmm, You can wear this blue dress, these other two, though pretty, have some wear and tear." She puts the navy blue dress at the front of my closet. It is a pretty dress, dark blue, with lacy sleeves, going down past the knees.

Eight numbers and three weeks later, my wedding day is here. I put the dress on and Nicole does my hair again into some pretty up do. "Jackie, are you nervous?" She asks. Skilled at lying, I reply, "No, not at all."  She believes the lie and hands me a mirror so I can see my hair. It looks nice and she and I head down stairs to drive to the church.

Apparently, John had already left to go help Father get the Church ready. John and I had agreed that it will just be us, Father Michael, Nicole and Lionel, the two witnesses. Nicole and I got into one of the cars and started driving to the church. When we arrived, I sat in the car for a second and then got out.

Fast Forward an hour later and John and I come out of the church as husband and wife. We are both as happy as can be. We thank my brother and Lionel. We get into one of the 2 cars that Finch owns and drive back to the safe house, where Finch and Shaw had been cooking a dinner.

He holds my hand the entire ride back to the safe house. I am so happy that we are together, forever. When we arrive back at the safe house, rice is thrown at us by NIcole, Finch and Shaw. John and I laugh, walking into the house, trying to dodge the rice. The 2 had prepared a nice Turkey dinner for all of us to eat for the occasion. Before we ate, Finch lifted his glass of champagne and said, "To Jackie and John, two great people!" After much clinking and "cheers", we ate.

The next day, our next number is one of importance. It is the Police Commissioner of New York, Phil Thompson, who is an avid searcher of us. When Finch briefs us, he runs his hand through his hair and sighs. "This one is going to be hard because he has partial prints, blurry photos and recordings of our voices. I am not sure...if this is safe for you guys to go after." He tells us. "Finch, every life deserves saving and I am pretty sure I am speaking for both John and I when I say, that she deserves saving." I tell him, standing up. "Miss Myers, I mean, Mrs. Reese,  he will be able to identify you so easily." He replies. "Finch, I wasn't in Special Ops for nothing. He will have no idea that his new secretary and advisor are the people he is hunting." I reply, showing that I am going to save this guy, no matter what.

After some change to both John and I, we head for our interviews at the Commisioner's office. We both are hired immediately. Two days later, we still haven't identified the threat to the commissioner. When I started to organize some paper work, Finch  calls me on my cell. "Hello?" I say
"Jackie, the threat is gone. The Machine says that the threat has been eliminated."
"Oh, well that is good. I will go let John know, so we can leave." THe last part I say hushed and I hang up and walk to John's office. I fill him in and just as we are about to leave "John's Office", one of the commissioner's staff comes and tells us that the Commissioner wants to see us.

We follow the guy, exchanging a puzzled look with John. We go inside the office and take a seat, as per the commissioner's instructions. "The both of you are great staff, so good at your job, but I am going to have to let you go. The both of you are under arrest for endangering the country. You thought you were safe by rubbing your fingerprints off, changing your voice, dying your hair and putting face masks on, but you were wrong. Take them away, boys." Three officers surround both John and I, one putting straight jackets on us, another putting leg shackles on and the other reading us our rights.

We are booked immediately, our trial awaiting us next week. I am taken to a women's prison and John taken to the men's prison. I ask to use my phone call right away to call Finch.
"Hello?" Finch says on the other line.
"Finch, it's Jackie. John and I have been arrested."
"Oh no. What are we going to do? WAIT! I have a backup plan."
"Well, what is it?" I ask.
"I am not going to tell you much. But you will be transported to D.C."
"Okay, Finch. I trust you."
"Thanks, Jackie." He replies then hangs up to put the plan into action.

I am lead back to my cell. It is a high security cell. I sit down on my uncomfortable bed and think about Team Machine. I want to do something I never do, break down and cry, but I can't. I close my eyes and try to fall asleep. "Prisoner 19563, you are being transported." I hear, waking up to the words over the PA. 3 guards come and open the door of my cell and escort me to the outside where a truck is waiting. I get inside and am shackled to the bench. One other prisoner is put in there with me. Prisoner 19864, I wonder what she is in prison for.

I hear the guards driving the truck say that we are being transported by plane. I cross my fingers, hoping that they are transporting John on the same flight. We are taken to the airport and are immediately  put on the plane, the guards chaining me and 19864 to the seats. It is a big plane with 2 seats along the side of the  plane, 3 seats in the middle and another 2 on the side. 19864 and I are put in 2 of the 3 middle seats. The plane starts to fill up with regular passengers, some disturbed that there are prisoners aboard. The seat next to me doesn't fill to the last second, by another prisoner, not John, but some guy who tells me his name is Vince.

Vince rubs off of me as trouble but I dismiss the feeling. He keeps blabbing to me about why he is here and how the cops never would have caught him if his girlfriend didn't report his crimes. I feel like someone is watching me and  try to turn in my seat, carefully as to  not attract the  guards attention. The other prisoner that is being transported with Vince, is John. I do a quick nod and turn back in my seat. I am super happy and think about John, my thought drowning out Vince's talking.

At 30 minutes into the flight, I am awoken by Vince nudging 19864 over me. I pretend I am still asleep while I listen to him say to her, in a whispered voice, "You ready sweetheart? Here is the lock pick. Hurry!" I open my eyes the tiniest bit to see her start picking. I do a small unoticed laugh to myself because she is doing it all wrong.

She finally figures it out and her chains are unlocked. The two prisoners look at each other and whisper to one another. Poke! Poke! I reach my hand to where the poking is from, John is handing me a lock pick. I whisper,"Are you sure you want to do this?" I see him nod. I lock pick my own chains and Vince does a creepy smile at me. Vince whispers to me, telling me that we are taking out the guards and then going up to the cockpit and landing this plane, and running away. I know that this plan isn't going to work, but if John is doing it, then I am doing it.

The guards are dumbly wrapped up in their Delta magazines. The passengers are A. Sleeping. B. Reading.  or C. Watching a movie. We, the prisoners, silently moved over to where the guards sat. Vince wanted us to choke them to death, but I choked them til unconsious. The passengers hadn't even noticed until we moved up to the front of the plane and one of the attendants screamed. Vince grabbed her and went into the cockpit. "I will kill her if you people don't land us in the middle of no where." I hear Vince say. The three of us stand in the front of the plane, making sure none  of the passengers try to be a hero.

But one, no, two try to be heroes. "U.S. Marshalls! Put your hands up!" They both shout, holding guns. Idiots, I think. "You don't want to shoot those in here, fellas." John replies. "Son, we can shoot you and your friends right where you stand and that wouldn't hurt nobody." One of the marshals reply. John and I start to move closer to the marshals. "Stop or I'll shoot!" One of them shouts. I walk closer and grab the gun straight out of the one marshal's hand. But the other then turns his gun on me, I watch his reflexes twitch, about to pull the trigger and I drop to the ground. He shoots and hits a window. The air and things start to get sucked out of the plane and the oxygen masks fall down for use. I crawl as fast as I can on the ground to one. I strap it on and notice that the passengers have equipped theirs. The U.S. Marshals dropped to the ground and are holding on to the legs of the seats, trying not to get sucked out. John is doing the same as them. Over the PA, I hear Vince say,"Well, some one wasn't using there head and shot one of the windows out. We are landing this plane soon. So just hold on and then we will get even."  About a half hour later, he tells us that we are landing in a field around Taney Town, Maryland. The plane takes a rough landing and Vince rushes out before it has totally stopped, motions to 19864, me and John, and opens and runs out the door. We follow him in a flash.

When we go into the town, we immediately find clothes and change out of our prison jumpsuits. We leave the jumpsuits hanging in place of the clothes that the person living there had left out to dry. John and I separate from Vince and the girl who I still don't know her name.  "It was time to get away from them." John  tells me. I nod, relieved that we are still together. John takes my face and kisses me, relieved that we weren't separated. "I don't want to  lose you, Jackie. I love you so much." He tells me. "I love you so much too, John." I reply.

We find a quarter lying on the ground, abandoned, so we find a pay phone to call Finch.
"Hello?" Finch answers.
"Finch, It's John and Jackie is with me."
"Oh, I am so glad to know you are both still alive. But be careful you are both wanted and not in a good way. you are wanted dead or alive."
"Finch, what bank did you leave money in around here?"
"There is an ATM on Riffles Lane in town. Be careful it is across from the Police Station."
The time runs out and John and I head deeper in town to find the ATM.

We locate the ATM and we see over at the police station that police officers are standing around with dogs, ready to go track us down. We complete the transaction quickly and move out of sight from the police station. We walk for a ways in town, locating a Chevrolet dealer and a Verizon phone store. We go inside and Finch had all this set up for us. "Mr. Williams,is it? Your car is all ready outside for you." The seller tells us. We go outside and sign a few papers and then drove the car to the Verizon store. We picked up two phones and then started to drive out of town. Or tried to at least. The closer we got to the town limit, we saw the Police setting up a road block. John stops the car and I call Finch on speaker phone.

"Finch, there is a road block." John tells him.
"Oh, dear. Well, let me think. You will have to lose the car and probably leave at night. You can rent a room at one of the motels and then leave at night."
"Thanks, Finch." I tell him.

We drive to one of the motels on the outskirts of town. We sit around watching tv waiting for the sun to go down. When the sun finally goes down, John and I leave the room and go outside. We start walking towards the border. The night is young and not pitch dark yet, so we can still see where we are walking.

We walk and walk and walk until we see lights. There is a sign that says "Welcome to Kingsdale, PA." The walk to Kingsdale was about 2 hours along the highway. It's about midnight and John and I don't see any signs for any chain hotels. So we take our chances hoping that a bed and breakfast, just up the road, is open. We walk up to it and knock the door. To our surprise, someone answers the door.

"Can I help you?" The girls asks.
"Yes, do you happen to have a room for the night?" John asks.
"Yes, sir. Please come in, both of you." she replies. She leads us to to a desk and takes our name. "Right this way, Mr and Mrs. Williams." She says as she leads us to a room. We thank her and go inside.

The next morning, we go downstairs and go into the dining room. I stop dead in my tracks at what I see. John notices my reaction. "I forgot something in our room." I sputter out and turn and go back to the room. John follows me back. "Jackie, what's wrong?" he asks.
"The people that run this b&b are....."
"Are?"
"my parents."
"Jackie, I had no idea." John says as he sits down next to me on the bed.
"It's not your fault, I just had no idea they moved and started a B&B."

He put his arm around my shoulder. A few seconds after, there was a knock at the door. "Mr. Williams, breakfast is being served now." Melanie said from the  other side of the door. "Thank you, Melanie, we will be out in a bit." John replied. "I can't believe Melanie didn't recognize me last night." I said to John. "Maybe, you look different than from 8 years ago." He replies. "If we are lucky, Mom and Dad won't recognize me either. Come on, let's go eat." I say. We get up and go to the dining room again.

If they recognize me, they don't let on. That is until Fr. Michael walks through the door and he lets his face betray him when he looks at me and John with surprise and then smiles. "Jackie, what are you...." he starts, when I start shaking my head. The eyes in the room are trained on me and him. I act normal and start to eat. I hear Michael say to Mom, "Hey, Mom! How are you?" "Michael, it is so good to see you!" She replies.

We finish eating and go back to the room. "That was close." John says. "Yea, it was. I hope Mom doesn't ask Michael about it." I reply. We leave the room and go into the parlor where Michael is. John and I sit close to Michael and we fill him in on what happened. He is surprised and promises not to tell Mom and Dad unless asked outright which usually doesn't happen.

While we are sitting there talking, Mom, Dad and Melanie come in the room and see us talking with Michael in hushed voices. "Mr. and Mrs. Williams, how has your stay been?" Mom asks.
"Very nice. Thank you." John replies.
"Have the three of you known each other along time?" Dad asks, motioning to Michael and us.
"Yes, we go to Father Michael's parish in New York." I reply.
Dad sits down on one of the couches and Mom takes her place next to him.
"How long have you lived in New York?" Dad asks, motioning the question to me.
"Since I got out of the military, I have lived in New York." I replied. Mom's face lit up.
"Did you know a Jacqueline Meijers?" Mom asked  me.
"Yes, I did. A shame what happened to her." I reply.
"We should get going." John says to me.

We get up, thank the Meijers, pay Melanie and leave. (Note: Jackie Myers was Jacqueline Meijer before she went into the Army. After she got out, she legally changed her name to Jackie Myers.) We start walking to the bus station where John and I agreed that they wouldn't be looking there because no person would think to take the public bus. We take the bus all the way back to New York, a long 5 hour ride.

When we get back to New York, avoiding cameras, John and I go back to the safe house. Finch is there, along with Nicole. Nicole stops us before we walk into Finch's office. "Guys, we need to talk." She says as she leads us away from the office and into the living room.

"While you two were gone, something happened. I don't know how but it happened." She started.
"Yes?" I asked her to continue.
"Finch doesn't remember much. of anything."
"What?" John and I both say.
"I feel that we need to take him to see a doctor but with bounties on your heads and quite possibly on his, it is probably not safe."
I run my finger through my hair. "Can he function?" I ask. "Yeah, he can do everything he used to, except for remembering certain things and working the Machine." She replies.

John gets up and goes into the other room. "Are you sure, Nicole?" I ask her. She nods yes. I get up and walk into Finch's office. He is sitting reading a book. "Hey, Finch!" I greet him. "Jackie!  How have you been? I haven't seen you in a while. Where have you been?"  He asks. I kinda choke on my words as I reply, "I have been great! I have been with John, we went to Maryland." He smiles at me,"That's right! For your honeymoon?"
"You could say that." I reply. I tell him that I will be back and I go into the kitchen.

"She is right, John." I tell him. We wrap each other up in a hug, both feeling the same sadness and what do we do thought.

Later that night, after Finch went to bed, still on his normal routine, Nicole, John and I started to discuss what we need to do. Before we got too deep into conversation, Shaw came in and joined the discussion.

"It might not be a good idea for the two of you to show your face around New York for right now." Shaw said.
"Yeah, we were think the same thing." John replied.
"If Finch doesn't know he has the Machine, then he probably can't work it sense he won't understand it. We need to keep Team Machine going for Finch." Shaw tells us.
"I know. I volunteer to take over as the  Machine operator but I can't do it alone." Nicole says.
We gawk at her. The Nicole of 3 years ago never would have said that, I am proud of my best friend's change.
"I will help. But someone needs to take care of Finch. Jackie and John, would you be willing?" Shaw says.
"What do you say, John? I say yes but I need to know what you think." I tell him.
"I say that we will definitely take care of Finch." He replies.
"Then it is settled, Shaw and I will be Team Machine, Jackie and John will take care of Finch." Nicole says.

John and I agree that we should go someplace that is really obscure, not many cameras that the government picks up on. So we decide to go back to Kingsdale, Pennsylvania. The next day, John and I start packing up some of Finch's things. While going through some books, I come across one with a folder titled: IN CASE I DIE/LOSE MY MEMORY. "John, look at this." I say.

He walks over to where I am kneeling and grabs the folder, flipping through it. "In case I lose my memory, do what you want with the Machine. I would prefer it if you went on helping people, but it is understood if you cannot. Please do with me what you must also, splitting my money amongst you. If there are 4 of you, there should be at least 500 million dollars each for you. Thank you and good luck. -Harold Finch" John read. "That's generous of him." I say in response.

We show the folder to Shaw and Nicole and let them take care of it, while John and I go house-hunting online. We find a nice 4 beds and 4 bath home along the outskirts of the town. The next day, John and I drive to Kingsdale to close on the house. The same day we drive back to New York, happy that we could close on the house so quickly.

John and I pack up our small amount of belongings and put them in the car, preparing to move in tomorrow. We put most of Finch's things in the car too, leaving a seat open for him. The next day after breakfast and goodbyes, Finch, John and I are on our way to Kingsdale, a 4 hour drive by car.

When we arrive at the house, Finch comments that he likes it a lot. Yesterday, before we left, we looked at a nearby furniture store and bought some furniture that is going to be delivered today.

A week later, after everything is settled, I go, with John, to the B&B, to tell them who I am. John opens the front door, letting me go in first. I wait for him as he walks in and closes the door. He grabs my hand and squeezes it. I smile at him and he smiles back. We see Melanie first. Keeping my voice level, I ask her where Mr. and Mrs. Meijer are. She tells me that they are in the parlor. She leads us there and is about to go before I grab her arm, with my free hand and tell her to stay.

"Mr and Mrs Meijer, I needed to tell you that I am sorry that I lied to you." I start.
They look surprised and Mom says, "Well, we forgive you, Mrs. Williams."
"No. I am not Mrs. Williams. Nor is he." I beckon to John.
"Oh?"
"I am Jacqueline Reese, formally Meijer, the Jacqueline Meijer, your daughter."
Tears flood Mom and Dad's eyes and rush up and hug me.
"How?!" Dad asks, "We saw the obituary!"
"It's a long story, Dad." I reply, hugging my parents back.

John is just standing there to the side until Dad notices him. "Come in here, son!" He tells John and so he joins the group hug too. Melanie is still trying to fathom what has happened until Mom tells her, "Your sister is alive! Come hug her!" Melanie comes over and joins the hug too. We eventually separate and Mom and Dad start talking and asking questions. I introduce John  to them. Dad is pleased to have a son-in-law.

A Few Years Later, I became pregnant and Mom and Dad were officially grandparents which made them very happy also. Finch was happy to be Uncle Harold to a bouncing baby boy, named Peter John. Our family grew to include 3 more kids named John, Lydia, and Michael.
